Error when opening REA: Standalone Copy: Close all applications reboot, when back up, right click the rea icon, scroll down to properties, left click on properties, on the shortcut tab in the properties window, "click" on "find target" (this will take you into main REA folder.) Find the file that says "sdeunlod.exe" or "sdeunlod" Double click on this, click on unload, if you get a second error, simply click close, double click the "sdeunlod" file again, and click on cancel. Scroll up until you find the file that says "cdx.bat" or "cdx" double click on the file. (A black window should pop up and disappear.) Once done close out of everything and open REA. Network Version: the steps are the same as above however after clicking on "cdx.bat" open manager and compress and reindex company databases, as well as all user databases. You must do this from manager with everyone out of REA.
The File FLDDEFS.DBF is locked by another user: This error could occur on different occasions if this does come up. Close REA, right click the rea icon on the desktop go down to properties and "click" on "find target". Scroll up to the data folder. Double click DATA, then double click READATA, in the READATA folder there is a file called "flddefs.cdx" Simply delete this file and then open up REA. Same for a network just make sure everyone is out of REA.
Password Table is in Use by another user: Close REA, right click the icon and go down to properties, click on find target, scroll up to the DATA folder and double click on that. In the DATA folder there may be two files passw1.idx and passw2.idx, you may only have one. Simply delete those files if on a standalone, and open rea, if you are using a network delete those files and then run compress and re-index from manager.
Project One Error when backing up: Usually happens on an older version of rea such as 2000 or 2001. If you do get this please email support@gorea.com and ask them for the project one email.
Can't Find wrea1.exe: Search your machine for the file wrea1.exe if no file is found then try searching for wrea1.* to see if anything comes up. If you still do not get any results from the search, please go to our ftp site ftp://gorea.com/pub and go into the exe folder and download the file wrea1.exe and place it in the folder that REA runs from on your machine.
WREA1 Caused a general protection Fault in module ?: If it is module vbrun300.dll simply reboot your machine that should fix it. If it is something else, close rea, right click the rea icon and go down to properties, click on find target, once in the main folder find the file that says sdeunlod.exe and double click it, then click on unload, if you get a second error click close, then run the sdeunlod file again and click cancel. Once done scroll up to the file that says cdx.bat or cdx and double click on it. Open REA.
Someone is performing maintenance on the database: When you run manager it renames the wrea1.exe file to .xxx as its extension. The file is still named that, close out of the error, right click your REA icon and go down to properties and click on find target, find the file that wrea1.xxx right click on it and select rename and rename it back to wrea1.exe
Can't Find "filename" quitting: Search for the filename on the machine if you do not find it and it is an REA file please download the file to the folder that it belongs in, from our ftp site. ftp://gorea.com/pub if you do not know where the file goes please give tech support a call.
***NUMBERED ERRORS***
2100, 2102, 2103: These errors can occur for different reasons and at different times, the best way to fix these. Is if you are in REA on a standalone go to file menu compress and reindex. If on a network, close everyone out of REA, right click the REA icon and go down to properties, once in the properties window, click on find target. Scroll up and go into the data folder find the file or files that say passw1.idx or passw2.idx and delete both of these, then use the back arrow at the top, and open up manager, compress and reindex company databases. If after doing all this you still get the error check your network connection/mapped drive.
3700: Run Compress and Reindex from manager if on a network. After running this open up the REA program press f5 on the keyboard this will bring up the list of database records. Scroll through the list if no error comes up you are okay if an error does come up saying memo max length 65,518. We need to copy that record and delete the old one. Once done run compress and reindex from manager again if on network and from the file menu if on standalone.
5700: Solution: Close everyones REA, Run compress and re-index from manager. Compress and reindex user database for the user having the problem. Reboot the computer. Open REA.
***REA TO WORD ERRORS***
HEADER RECORD DELIMITERS: Word message: "Header record delimiters; data fields must be separated from each other by a character called a delimiter. Similarly data records must be separated by a record delimiter. Use the list below to select the appropriate delimiter" go into form letters, merge fields, check "all fields" and then uncheck it. Try the form letter again.
| HEADER RECORD DELIMITERS 2: 1) If problem with either the Quick Letter, Quick memo, Quick Fax, or Form Letter, try merging with a different record first. If you are able to merge with a different document this means that there is a character somewhere in the record that is throwing off the record delimiters and is confusing the Word Processor. 2) Look for any characters like those shown below in the records that are merging either deleted the odd character or , + = # $ % ^ & * ( ) < > : " { } [ ] ; ' / ? \ | ` ~ |
OPEN DATA SOURCE: Meaning: Using Word 97 & possibly Word 2000. If the error " Open data Source " shows up on the screen when the user is doing a form letter, in the window that says "Open data Source ", there will be a options button. Click on options and then choose "Remove Header record delimiter" and the document will open up. Now save the document with the same file name. Do not choose save as. Word remakes the .DAT file and the next time they open the form letter, no errors will occur. sometimes if you click options you can choose remove header data source. Then the document will open up, then choose save. In plain English: REA has to have a .DAT file in the c:\reawin\letters\ltrdata folder and also .DOC in the c:\reawin\letters\merge folder. If the customer does not have that particular .DAT file for a certain .DOC document made from REA, they will get this error. One way to find out with .DAT file that is used for a certain form letter is to load the form letter (.DOC) from the merge folder in Word and Word will ask for the .DAT file with the number of the file. Then associate that document with that .DAT file.
