Update Instructions for REA

MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE DOING ANY UPGRADES TO YOUR SYSTEM!!!!!!! REA cannot be responsible for your data if you do not make a backup before this process,

REA 9.13.0 is a major upgrade and requires that every machine be updated and that the REA 9 database be updated. REA 9 contains a database manager program that will make updating your system and all your users easy. Please follow these instructions to update your system. You should allow at least one hour to complete this process. Some upgrades may differ depending on your system and what version of REA 9 you were running prior to doing the update.

Before going doing the update, please print these instructions by clicking on this button:

Start by downloading the correct version of REA from http://updates.gorea.com, the file for Workstations is named REA9-9.13.0-Workstation.exe. This will install all the REA program updates but will not install the SQL Server.

Below is an explanation of the differences between the two update installation files.

Single User Systems and SQL Server Machine

A single user system has both the REA program and the SQL database installed on its C drive. All single user installations need to download REA9‐9.13.0 ‐Complete.exe. Make sure you update the SQL Server on your machine when asked during the install.

Multi-User Systems

Shared systems (two or more people using the same REA database) require one machine to be the SQL server while the other machines are workstations. The machine acting as the SQL server must update using REA9‐9.13.0‐Complete.exe and make sure to update the SQL Server.

The other machines are considered workstations and should update using the REA9‐9.13.0‐Workstation.exe. This update does not include the SQL engine. Workstations can use the Complete version of the update but should answer NO when asked if they want to install SQL Express.

Locate the REA9.13.0‐Workstation.exe file you downloaded from http://updates.gorea.com. Click to run it.
